Bedroom Linen Sets
La Redoute
PSA: There are plenty of Black Friday deals dropping this week on lots of our favourite bedding brands and there's no exception on linen sheets. Have a look below for the sale stickers to bag a discount on some of these cosy sets.
There's nothing like sinking into a comfy bed at the end of a long day. As we spend a third of our life asleep, it's worth getting your bedding right. (After all, if you've ever tried to sleep through a heatwave under scratchy polyester sheets, you'll understand!)
Cotton is the go-to material for cosy, breathable bedding, but this isn't the most eco-friendly fabric – and what if you prefer a more rustic look? We'd recommend linen bedding instead. This sustainable, natural material is hypoallergenic, hardwearing, super-soft and requires no ironing – its rumpled, lived-in texture looks lovely fresh out of the washing machine.
Not convinced? Here are some more reasons we'll be tucking ourselves into linen sheets tonight:
It's eco friendly. Linen is made from flax; a totally natural, biodegradable material. It requires no additional water to grow aside from rain – a far cry from the 10,000 litres required to grow 1kg of cotton. Every part of the plant can be used, too, so there's no wastage – linseed oil is also made from flax, for example.
It's great value for money. This fabric is exceptionally strong and hardwearing. Invest in the right sets and you could enjoy them for up to 50 years to come – again reducing wastage and the need to buy more.
It's comfy to sleep in. Linen's weave allows for greater airflow than cotton, making it better at wicking away moisture in the summer so you stay cooler in bed – so it's a good choice for hot sleepers. This quality also means it dries quickly after a wash, so you won't be hanging around for hours waiting to make the bed.
What's more, linen actually gets softer the more it's washed, so its cosiness only improves over the years. Look for pre-washed sets when purchasing to enjoy this feeling fresh-out-of-the-box.
Unbleached linen has a subtle ecru or beige hue, but is often dyed in rich, vibrant tones, so there should be something out there to suit your tastes. We've scouted out some of our favourite linen bedding sets for all budgets – from the reasonably-priced steals at H&M to the buy-it-for-life luxury options from Piglet and The Linen Works.
1 H&M
Fast fashion and sustainability don't often go hand-in-hand, but H&M is improving its eco-credentials, with the brand committing to use all recycled or sustainably sourced materials by 2030. Its 100% linen bedding range is the most affordable we've found. A set includes two pillowcases and a duvet cover, but you'll have to buy a sheet separately.

2 Eve Sleep
You probably know Eve as the popular mattress-in-a-box company, but the brand has a full range of sleep products, including pillows, duvets and linens. This bedding bundle is a bamboo/linen blend, but it comprises two pillowcases, a duvet and a sheet from just £139, so it's great value – and that's when the brand's not running one of its sales.
Sizes available: Double, king, super king
Colour range:Three, but these are reversible

3 Made
We love the rich jewel tones in Made's linen bedding. Sets don't come with sheets or extra pillowcases (you get a duvet cover and two pillowcases), but by buying these separately, you have the opportunity to mix and match colours to create a really bold look. For example, we'd recommend pairing the peacock green duvet set with sheets and extra pillows in dusky pink. When we last checked, most sets were available for two-day delivery, but some colours had a waiting time of 14 to 16 weeks. So, if something takes your fancy, be quick to purchase or risk a long wait for it to come back in stock.
Sizes available: Double, king, super king
Colour range:11

4 Bedfolk
When Bedfolk say this bedding is soft, they mean it. We tried the Ink colourway and it was the softest linen that we've ever felt — very impressive! Even better, the deep, dark tone was very sophisticated and looks lovely on the bed. We also like how the sets come in a matching linen bag, to keep everything neat in your drawer when not in use. They're also Oeko-Tex certified — what's not to like?
Sizes available:Single, Double, king, super king

5 Habitat
Habitat is a great go-to for reasonably priced essentials and this linen bedding set is no exception. There's only a small colour selection, but you can't go wrong with grey or white, so we're not too bothered.
Sizes available: Double, king, super king
Colour range:Three

6 La Redoute
These sheets are certified by OEKO-TEX®, so you can be sure no harmful substances have been used in production. This bedding also has the largest shade range we've found, encompassing delicate pale pinks and beige through to deep navy and black. On the down side, there are no bedding sets available – you must buy all pieces separately. Saying that, due to all the colours, plus the three different pillow sizes, you'll be able to create a bedding scheme entirely unique to your tastes. Be creative!
